Rapiscan to supply hybrid cargo and vehicle systems
Rapiscan Inc. has won a US$5 million order for multiple hybrid cargo and vehicle inspection systems from an unnamed customer. The systems use both x-ray and neutron based technologies, and enable the customer to conduct a two-phase inspection process.
During the first phase, the container contents are scanned with the high-energy x-ray imaging technology of the Rapiscan Eagle. The image is then interpreted by the operator for manifest verification and risk assessment.
If anything requires closer inspection, a second phase can be initiated that relies on Rapiscan’s proprietary material-specific Thermal Neutron Analysis. this process produces a “red light/green light” response as a guide for further action.
The systems will be deployed at an international border crossing that was not identified in the announcement.
