DHS sets out funding guidelines

A draft document from the DHS sets out guidelines for the kinds of homeland security projects that are most likely to receive part of the US$1.7 billion allotted for federal counterterrorism funding for 2007, according to a report by Congressional Quarterly.

The full “guidance” document is due out at the end of December. In the meantime, the released draft indicates that applications for funding for “intelligence fusion centers,” emergency communications and coordination of homeland security programs will be especially well received. This year’s document won’t be much different from those released in previous years, except that this time around there’s a section on how to spend grant money on fusion centers and some ideas on what to focus on when applying for grants.
