TSA sets price on security
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has set a price of US$28 a year to conduct background checks on airline passengers who want to join a privately run trusted-traveller program. The fee will be charged to private companies, including airports, that offer program membership to passengers. Those same organizations had earlier warned that a proposed US$100 fee would keep the program from catching on with travellers.
The program is designed for passengers who travel frequently, including business-class travellers who are used to paying more to make travel faster and more convenient. So far, however, the program is in place only at Orlando Airport in Florida.
