Nigerian security nabs bomber
Nigerian Federal Airports Authority security staff at the domestic wing of Muhammed Airport in Lagos arrested a young man who was trying to board a domestic flight with five kilograms (11 lbs.) of explosives. The explosives were set to detonate once the flight was airborne.
The suspect actually got the explosives past the screening checkpoint, but was stopped by security guards before boarding. When the guards asked what his package contained, the man told them he was carrying microphones. When the explosives were found he then said he’d been given the package by someone else to deliver to Abuja, the flight’s destination. He provided no more information, in spite of “intensive interrogation,” and was handed over to the State Security Service.
