Private security breaks through in Spain

The combined turnover posted by private security firms in Spain hit 3 billion euros (US$3.9 billion) in 2006, according to Aproser, the industry association. Most of the business transacted was in the realm of surveillance, followed by security systems and alarms, and cash delivery and transport services.

Growth was 6.8 percent ahead of 2005. The organization’s secretary-general believes that the growth simply parallels economic growth, and should not be taken as a sign of increased insecurity.
