Singapore to track nuke material by satellite

The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) of Singapore is considering the deployment of satellite tracking systems to keep track of radioactive shipments in real time. HSA has responsibility for nuclear material in Singapore, and already keeps daily track of all radioactive shipments. In addition to knowing who has custody of nuclear materials and where they are, the HSA also carries out surprise checks on companies that are licensed to deal with such material.

The last time radioactive materials went missing with possible effects on human health was in 1996, when a small amount of Iridium-192 was lost. It was recovered several months later.
