Antiterror “Faces” poster builds holiday awareness
The U.S. State Department and Department of Homeland Security have circulated 500 “Faces of Global Terrorism” posters to major U.S. airports over the holiday season to build antiterrorism awareness and hopefully to bring terrorists to justice and prevent attacks.
The distribution is part of the State Department’s “Rewards for Justice” (RFJ) program. The RFJ program also offers rewards of up to US$25 million (the average is about US$5 million) “for information that prevents, frustrates, or favorably resolves terrorist acts against the United States.” To date, according to the State Department, the RFJ program has paid out more than US$62 million to more than 40 recipients for information that prevented international terrorist attacks or helped bring to justice those involved in prior acts.
This poster isn’t the cheeriest of holiday decorations, but the U.S. State Department hopes it can help prevent future attacks
