Texas port to get radar-based security
Port Freeport, in Texas, will soon be equipped with a radar-based port security system based on technology provided by Ultra Electronics SML Technologies (UESML). The system is being put together for the port by Ciber Inc., as part of its integrated Harbor Management Security (HMS) system. The system will enable port security staff to detect, track and initiate alarms on small vessel intrusion, display radar and AIS tracks on an electronic chart and provide vectoring information for port security cameras.
The Ultra component will also supply sensor data to the web portal C2 display portion of Ciber’s HMS system, giving the port round-the-clock waterside security. UESML’s contract also includes its SID transponder system, which will link live, correlated radar and AIS track data to patrol boats and vehicles.

Port Freeport is adding a large Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) installation, so improved security will be appreciated
