SFO starts Registered Traveler program
The San Francisco Airport Commission has approved plans to set up special Registered Traveler security lines at San Francisco International Airport (SFO). Users, who are checked by the Transportation Security Administration and issued special cards with biometric data, are provided with special security lanes apart from those used by non-program users. The cards cost users about US$100 per year.
The airport hopes that the program will help to reduce security lines and delays. “It provides predictability in time that people can spend in airport security,” a Registered Traveler program spokesperson told a Financial Times journalist. “It typically takes under five minutes to get through security.”
