Smiths for new Dubai terminal

Smiths Detection has received its first substantial contract from Dubai’s Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) to provide explosives detection equipment at Dubai International Airport’s (DXB) new Terminal 3 (T3), currently under construction.

Around 70 automatic Smiths Heimann HI-SCAN x-ray screening systems will be integrated into the airport’s high-tech baggage handling system to screen checked and other outbound baggage for Emirates Airlines, which is the new terminal’s sole occupant. The DCA will also use the similar detection equipment from Smiths to inspect arrivals luggage.
