Interpol publishes bio-terror response

Delegates at the Interpol Americas Regional Workshop on Preventing Bio-terrorism in Chile July 10-12 published a series of measures aimed at improving law enforcement awareness and training around the threat of bio-terrorism. Delegates from 26 countries, including chiefs of police, scientists and academic experts, were in attendance.

In addition to publishing the document ("Bio-terrorism Incident Pre-planning & Response Guide") the delegates resolved to conduct regular threat and risk assessments in conjunction with health, medical and law enforcement agencies, and create or develop appropriate legislation, inter-agency protocols, early warning systems and training regimes. They also pledged to work for the implementation of measures to prevent, respond to and investigate bio-terrorism.
