First Defender lists on responder database

Ahura Corp.'s FirstDefender handheld detector has been listed on the Responder Knowledge Base, a DHS-funded website designed to support first responders. The device uses Raman infrared detection technology to identify unknown solids and liquids. The device has also been linked to the Standardized Equipment List (SEL), which is issued annually by the Interagency Board for Equipment Standardization and Interoperability (IAB). The SEL contains a list of generic equipment recommended by the IAB to local, state and federal government organizations as part of their preparation to respond to terrorist incidents and events involving weapons of mass destruction.

The portability of Ahura’s FirstDefender suits it for
forensics, narcotics, hazardous materials and “white powders.”
