Boeing UAV helo flies
Boeing has announced that its newly designed A/MH-6X light-turbine helicopter has made its first flight. The aircraft combines Boeing’s A/MH-6M Mission Enhanced Little Bird (MELB) with the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technologies of the Unmanned Little Bird (ULB) Demonstrator, a modified MD 530F civil helicopter that has been in development since 2004.
The 14-minute piloted first flight demonstrated the aircraft’s performance and handling characteristics. When fully developed the system will be a UAV ‘hybrid,’ meaning that it can be flown with or without a pilot.
